Xcode betas often force a host operating-system decision before a code decision. Apple lists macOS Tahoe 26.6 or later as the requirement for Xcode 27.1 beta, so a Mac on an earlier Tahoe build cannot be the supported host for the Duo toolchain.
The requirement is for Xcode, not your app’s users
Updating the development Mac does not raise your app’s iOS deployment target. It enables the toolchain itself to run. Users can remain on every OS version supported by the deployment target you configure.

Why host requirements move
Xcode bundles SDKs, compilers, debugging services, Simulator frameworks, and platform runtimes that depend on host OS capabilities. Apple validates the bundle against a defined macOS range instead of every older system combination.

Tahoe 26.6 is infrastructure for the current Duo development stack. Upgrade a compatible test or CI machine deliberately, keep production tooling isolated, and let Apple’s current release notes—not matching version numbers—define the supported combination.
