How to Test an iPhone Duo App Without Owning the Device
A simulator-first matrix for adaptive layouts, transitions, Split View, Dynamic Type, keyboards, state, and screenshots.

Build a small test matrix
Cover outer display, inner display, Split View, large Dynamic Type, light and dark appearance, supported orientations, external keyboard, active text entry and a presented sheet. Test transitions rather than launching fresh each time.
Use our Xcode and iOS guide to prepare the toolchain and the App Store checklist before submission.
Preserve state under stress
Begin editing, resize or fold, then confirm text, selection, scroll and navigation survive. Repeat during network loading and after backgrounding. These paths reveal more than perfect screenshots.
Automate stable checks
UI tests can assert essential controls remain visible and reachable at representative sizes. Snapshot tests help with regressions but should not replace interaction tests or accessibility inspection.
Know Simulator’s limits
Do not publish claims about battery, heat, camera quality, hinge feel or animation smoothness from Simulator. Label those untested until physical evidence exists.
For architecture, read our SwiftUI guide or UIKit guide. Simulator-first work is the fastest way to remove deterministic failures before scarce hardware enters the loop.
