Analytics for Foldable Layout Bugs: What iPhone Duo Developers Should Measure
Privacy-conscious signals for finding layout failures, abandoned workflows, crashes, and state loss without collecting screen content.

Measure outcomes, not private content
Record coarse layout class, transition type, whether a task completed and whether restoration succeeded. Do not capture typed text, document names, screenshots or precise motion histories. Collect the minimum needed to reproduce a problem.
Useful events
Track unexpected constraint failures, scene disconnections during active work, editor state restored or lost, repeated cancellation after size change, and completion by broad width class. Compare rates rather than individuals.
Our SwiftUI guide and UIKit guide explain the architecture behind these events.
Combine analytics with reports
An event can show where users leave, not why. Add a feedback path that includes app version and non-sensitive layout context with consent. Reproduce issues using the Simulator test matrix.
Define success before launch
Choose reliability measures: task completion unchanged across transitions, no rise in state-loss reports and no accessibility regression. Avoid vanity metrics such as how often people unfold if they do not connect to value.
The goal is not to identify Duo owners. It is to discover whether changing space breaks a task. That produces better software and a more defensible privacy posture.
