Best iPhone Duo Case Types: Slim, Hinge Protection, or Folio?
How to choose between slim shells, hinge-protection cases and folios without making a foldable phone unnecessarily bulky.

Slim two-piece shells
A slim shell preserves the reason to buy a pocketable foldable. Look for secure attachment without loose adhesive near microphones or buttons. The trade-off is limited hinge coverage.
Hinge-protection cases
These add a moving spine over the hinge. They suit buyers who work outdoors or carry the phone with equipment, but can make the folded device substantially thicker. Check whether the cover causes wobble when open on a desk.
Folios and kickstands
A folio can protect the outer display and turn the inner screen into a reading or video stand. It may also slow quick outer-screen interactions. For tasks that benefit from a stand, see our five multitasking workflows.
What to check
Confirm button access, wireless charging alignment, camera clearance and whether the case touches the flexible inner surface when closed. Avoid magnetic accessories the maker has not tested.
A case cannot protect against an object trapped between the halves. Read our inner screen care guide and crease explainer.
Begin with the lightest reputable case that solves your real risk. We will add named recommendations after fit and long-term attachment can be evaluated, rather than ranking accessories from specification sheets.
